Mango Release 15.5 (June 14th, 2021)

This point release includes the newly upgraded survey module, upgraded quiz module, new resource reservations feature, new web chat module. calendar enhancements, flip book view for PDF files, tracker enhancements, new timer widget, ediscovery/legal hold updates, mobile clients UX upgraded, mobile org chart, messenger client improvements, file sync client improvements and more. This release went live on US cloud on June 14th. ETA to go live on europe, germany, sydney and asia data centers is week of June 28th.

Newly Upgraded Survey Module

  • Improved user experience

    • Creating of a survey workflow experience has been improved
    • Support for the survey having a featured image and color has been added
    • Name and description of the survey has been made a step
    • Ability to preview the survey on web & mobile has been enhanced
    • User experience to take a survey has been improved
    • Survey feed UI has a featured image now
    • Survey insights page UI has been enhanced
    • Survey module landing page UI has been improved
    • Survey created with an audience of any network user can be taken by users who joined the network in future also.

  • New survey settings

    • Survey questions can be all on 1 page or 1 question per page
    • Default is 1 question per page
    • This setting can be edited after the survey has been published also

  • New ability to schedule a survey

    • Surveys can now be scheduled to be published later
    • Scheduled survey prior to the scheduled time is visible/accessible to the survey creator only
    • Scheduled survey prior to the scheduled time can be edited or deleted by the survey creator
    • A news feed is generated for the audience at the scheduled time and then the survey  becomes visible/accessible to the audience

 

  • New ability to share via link

    • Ability to publish a survey and not generated a news feed is now supported with the share via link option
    • After the survey is published the survey link can be shared with the audience members via a post, private message, IM etc
    • Only the users who are in the audience list can take the survey using this link

  • New ability to boost a survey

    • A published open survey can be boost (a.k.a. resend) to the audience to increase participation on it
    • Boost/Resend of the survey can be on private message, email or SMS
    • Boost via email & SMS options are available to domain & intranet admins for company surveys and to team admins for team surveys
    • Boost via message option is available to survey creators

    • New setting to view correct answers always vs when passed has been added
    • New setting to allow user to move to the next question without answering the current question has been added

    • Scheduled quiz prior to the scheduled time can be edited or deleted by the quiz creator

New Web Chat Module

  • New chat module experience

    • Chat module on web now supports a full desktop like experience
    • Ability to start team chat, 1-0-1 chat, share screen are now available on the web like they are on native desktop client
    • Real time chat notification area on the top bar in the web portal is now integrated with the new chat module

  • Chat user settings

    • Ability to switch between full view (new experience) and bar view (older chat bar experience) is available from user’s ‘change my settings > chat’ page
    • In full view users have the choice to open the web chat in a new browser tab or a new browser window

  • Chat admin settings

    • Ability to set the default web chat view (full view or chat bar) for all users has been added
    • Ability to turn on/off the reactions in chat is supported

 

New Resource Reservation Capability

  • Setup resources list

    • Ability to add/edit resources of type room, equipment and others from ‘domains > resources’ in admin portal
    • Assign resources to an office location
    • Identify  each resource with a picture
    • Ability to enable users to reserve resources
    • Ability to setup a custom admin role to manage resources

  • Reservation resources flow

    • Users can reserve one or more resources for a time period from ‘compose > create event > reserve resource’
    • A resource can only be reserved by a user for a time period if that resource hasn’t already been reserved by anyone else
    • By default the resource picture becomes the event featured image
    • At the end of the reserved time, the resource becomes available for reservation by anyone.

  • Create meeting flow

    • Users as part of creating a meeting event can now reserve one or more resources
    • If the resource requested is not available then meeting event can’t be created
    • When the event gets over (a.k.a. is in the past) or the event is cancelled the resource associated is free to be reserved by anyone else
    • When the event gets cancelled the resource associated to the cancelled event is free to be reserved by anyone else

  • Reserved resources listed on calendar

    • The calendar now lists all the reserved resources in the company
    • Ability to filter resources by office location or resource type is supported in the calendar
    • Clicking on the reserved resource on the calendar will show all the details of the resource

 

New Timer Customizable Widget

  • Ability to count up or down

    • Timer widget can count down to a date and show days/hours/mins/secs remaining
    • Timer widget can count up from a date and show days/hours/mins/secs elapsed

  • Ability to customize the UI

    • The UI (layout, color etc) is highly customizable
    • Timer widgets can be added to dashboard, company & team pages

Post Enhancements

  • Intranet admins can post & manage projects & groups

    • New permission setting to allow ‘admin access in all projects & groups’ for intranet admins has been added
    • This setting allows intranet admin to
      • View and post content in all public and private projects, groups & departments in the domain without being a member in them
      • Get access to admin tools in all public and private projects, groups & departments in the domain without being a member
    • Intranet admins will see all private & public teams in the teams look-ahead when composing an update/post so they can post content in them

  • Content posts preview improvement

    • Ability to preview a content post prior to publishing it has been added
    • Preview shows how the post content and the post notification will appear on MangoApps web, mobile, desktop platforms

  • Post review process improvement

    • Post prior to publishing can be send for review.
    • Reviewer comments are posted in the message that’s send to the reviewer
    • Now the sender/creator of the post can edit the post directly when opened from the message that has the reviews comments from the reviewer

Calendar Enhancements

  • RSVP’ed as not attending & non RSVP’ed events

    • Users will now see events that they have RSVP’ed as not attending with event name struck off on their calendar
    • Users will now see events that they have not yet RSVP’ed in grey color and they can RSVP by clicking on it

  • Custom events permission

    • Domain admins can now control who can create a specific custom event
    • Domain admins can choose between
      • Any network user
      • Only domain admins & a list of specific users

  • Attaching files to meeting events

    • As part of creating a meeting the user can now attach one or more files
    • Attached files are accessible from event popup (opened on calendar) and event details page
    • All invitees will get ‘Viewer’ privilege on the attached files

 

Tracker Enhancements

  • Ability to hide system columns

    • System columns – lock status, mention & comment are now listed in the edit table > setup columns
    • Tracker creator / team admins have option to show / hide these 3 system columns for a table like any other columns

  • Set row height improvements

    • Row heights supported are short, medium, tall and extra tall
    • These row heights settings have now been enhanced to also wrap text values in them appropriately making content visibility aligned with row height

 

  • Table widget on dashboard & pages

    • Table widget in dashboard and pages now automatically adjusts the column widths based on available space
    • No horizontal scroll bar will come in the widget now.

 

Mobile Dashboard Setup Enhancement

  • Mobile dashboard can be different than web dashboard

    • New setting to enable mobile specific dashboard is now available for domain admins
    • New action to copy over the web dashboard widgets to mobile widgets with 1-click
    • Use widget gallery add widgets to mobile dashboard or remove widgets from it
    • Each widget properties for the mobile dashboard can be different than web dashboard
    • Ability to publish dashboard to mobile is now independent from publishing it to web

  • Empty widgets, preview, notification etc improvements

    • On the mobile dashboard, if a widget has no data then they would be automatically hidden from display now
    • Ability to preview both web & mobile dashboard before publishing is available for domain admins
    • Domain admins have an option to notify users when the mobile dashboard is published

 

File Improvements

  • New flip book viewer for PDF

    • Users with file owner privilege on a PDF can set the viewer preference to be ‘Flip book’
    • This view will give users a flip book like experience to view the pages of the PDF document online

  • File viewer next/previous improvement

    • Next/previous on the file viewer will now be available for media (images, video) files
    • Users will not see next/previous on office documents, PDF document, text etc

  • File access tracking report

    • The file access tracking export on a file has new columns manager and employee id
    • The access tracking & user details sheets in the exported xls have been combined into 1 sheet for easier analysis

 

LMS Updates

  • New transcript template which has the user score has been added to the list
  • New substitution tags support to transcripts has been added. The new tags include
    • Course Score
    • Consolidated Score

 

eDiscovery/Legal Hold Updates

  • Ability to create legal hold with no end date is now supported
  • Legal hold once created can’t be edited

Two New Languages Support Added

  • MangoApps in this release has been translated into two new additional languages

Messenger (Universal & Windows) Improvements

  • User setting to control chat selection on a new message
  • Rendering pinned & active lists performance improved by 33%
  • Unread indicator on system tray updated
  • Issue with chats not being locked in the pinned list has been fixed

 

File Sync Client Improvements

  • New file check-out feature added

    • New check out / check in feature provides control via locking on who can make changes to a file
    • When file is checked out by a user, it will be locked and other users can’t edit the file. They can only view the file
    • Users can request the person who has checked out the file to check in
    • New panel in sync client to list the checked out files
      • Self checked out  files are shown in the you tab
      • Other users checked out files are shown in others tab

  • Files explorer integration

    • Checking out of a synced file can be done from file explorer  > right click on a file > MangoApps file sync menu > check out
    • Checking in the checked out file can also be done from the file explore > right click on a file > MangoApps file sync menu > check in
    • To discard the changes on the checked out file go to  file explorer > right click on a file > MangoApps file Sync menu > discard changes

 

TinyTake Client Improvements

  • Removed the alert which got shown when there was a screen resolution change
  • Face time camera crash on Big Sur OS has been fixed
  • Crashes that happened on using eraser or on using pixelate have been fixed

 

 

Mobile App Enhancements

  • New org chart

    • MangoApps iOS & Android app users now have a view of the organization chart in the mobile app
    • Org chart can be viewed from these 2 places
      • User’s profile page
      • People module
    • Org chart shows direct reports and peers
    • Org chart supports scroll top to bottom and bottom to top to view see the direct reports
    • Org chart supports swipe right to left and left to right to view the org chart of peers

 

 

  • Chat module UX upgraded

    • Chat Module now has chats organized in 2 sections
      • Pinned
        • Lists the people & teams that are pinned by the user
        • This list is build by the user
        • Most recently pinned item comes on top
      • Active
        • Lists the people & teams the user has recently had a active chat on
        • This list is automatically build by the app
        • Most recently active item comes on top
    • If there is a new message “new” is shown against the person/team in the list
    • Right swipe on the chat item to see additional actions like un-pin, remove from active list etc

  • LMS enhancements

    • New tab to view “My staff’s learning” is now available in the learn module on mobile
    • This lists the direct reports of the user
    • For each direct report it shows the
      • Training time
      • Assigned courses count
      • In-progress courses count
      • Completed courses count
      • Certificated earned count
      • Overdue courses count

  • Wiki module enhancements

    • Create wiki workflow has been enhanced to include options to assign an icon and background icon color
    • Sub-wikis can now be listed from the main view itself by tapping on the arrow against the parent wiki
    • Direct access to sub-wikis is available from the main wiki list module

  • List UI of modules upgraded

    • List UI of the following module has been upgraded – Posts, pages, documents, hashtags, news feed, notes, files, wikis
    • Fonts size & styling on the list UI across module has been made consistent for improved readability

 

What’s deprecated/removed?

  • As the list view of the survey module was enhanced the grid view for surveys has been removed
  • As the list view of the quiz module was enhanced the grid view for quizzes has been removed
  • Chat bar view has been deprecated and will be removed in Mango 16.0 (Jan 2022)
